THE SEA BIRD

The bird represents the energy directed to explore, experiment the world, create values and build strengths

Young people are attracted to risk, novelty, and the pursuit of intense sensations: behaviors that are essential for development but can be risky and unhelpful in some contexts. Youthworkers can help young people use this energy functionally and direct it towards building a meaningful and enjoyable life.

THE TURTLE

The turtle represents the skill to connect with one’s feelings, body, and the surrounding world, that is the mindfulness abilities, being present and noticing what is there.

It also helps recognize the physical signs reflecting strong emotions, understand the meaning of emotions.

Finally, for those who easily get caught up in difficult thoughts, the turtle provides a way to accept them and then step out of the space mind of the inner critic or of the anxious voice.
